Southampton boss Hasenhuttl provides Djenepo & Cedric updates before Everton

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has this evening provided a fitness update on his squad, ahead of the club’s meeting with Everton.

Southampton vs Everton

The Saints are set to welcome Marco Silva’s men to St. Mary’s on Saturday afternoon, for their latest Premier League clash.

Both sides will head into proceedings amid altogether-underwhelming recent runs of form.

Visitors Everton have notched just a solitary win from their last 7 league outings, the latest of which saw the Toffees require an injury-time equaliser to secure a point at home to Tottenham.

Southampton, meanwhile, are currently in the midst of a 6-game winless streak across all competitions.

The undoubted low point of this run came two weeks ago, when the Saints were incredibly downed by 9 goals to nil by Leicester City.

Southampton did look much-improved in their last fixture, at Manchester City, but the class of the English champions eventually proved telling, as the visitors were downed by 2 goals to 1.

Saints boosts

The prospects of Ralph Hassenhuttl’s men this weekend, though, have today been boosted, by a pair of updates on the personnel front.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of his side’s meeting with Everton, the Southampton boss was drawn on the fitness of Moussa Djenepo and Cedric Soares, both of whom have spent time on the sidelines of late, with respective injury concerns.

And Hasenhuttl went on to confirm that both Saints stars are available to feature on Saturday, having returned to full training:

‘So far good; Moussa [Djenepo] is back, Cédric is back. They can train with the team.’

The only absentee for Southampton this weekend is set to be Ryan Bertrand, who will sit out a suspension at St. Mary’s:

‘We have all players on board now, so we have more options. Ryan Bertrand is still suspended but everyone else is available.’

He continued:

‘Moussa is one of the only guys who has scored important goals for us so far, so he’s a big option for the weekend.’

‘He gives our a game a new part, which we’ve missed. He can be a boost for us.’
