Arsenal vs Southampton
Arsenal’s latest tie saw them face off with Southampton on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners began the day in 6th spot, one point off 5th and eight points adrift of a Champions League place.
But after Jose Mourinho secured a win in his first game in charge of Tottenham, Arsenal’s bitter rivals had overtaken them in the table.
So, Unai Emery’s side knew a win was very much necessary vs Southampton.
However, Arsenal have not been in great form lately, failing to win any of their last five games across all competitions prior to Southampton.
Arsenal’s afternoon got off to a nightmare start at the Emirates as well when Danny Ings fired the Saints into the lead with just eight minutes played.
But Alexander Lacazette would respond 11 minutes later, drawing the Gunners level.

Why Holding, Kolasinac & Saka missed out
Ahead of the tie with Southampton, Arsenal had a few key players omitted from the matchday squad.

Rob Holding has been one of the few bright spots in Arsenal’s backline in the smattering of games he has played this season.
And both Sead Kolasinac and Bukayo Saka have been pretty prominent figures for Arsenal so far this campaign.
However, all three missed out on the squad vs Southampton.
But the Gunners have provided an explanation for the trio’s absence.
Kolasinac is missing with a hamstring problem while Holding and Saka are dealing with slight knee problems.
