A number of amazing statistics stemming from Liverpool’s victory over Manchester City this evening have emerged across social media.
Liverpool win again
Jurgen Klopp’s table-toppers welcomed City to Anfield a short time ago, for a Premier League showdown.
Hosts Liverpool entered proceedings sitting pretty 6 points clear of the champions in the English top-flight table, with the Citizens having actually fallen behind both Leicester and Chelsea in the standings following Saturday’s results.
As such, ahead of kick-off, many agreed on the suggestion that a Liverpool win over City would see the Reds essentially secure the Premier League title, despite it only being November.
And, when all was said and done, secure their latest 3-point haul was precisely what the European champions managed.
Fabinho put the hosts in front with a rasping strike from distance with just 6 minutes on the clock, after Manchester City were denied what they felt was a stonewall penalty at the other end.
Mohamed Salah then doubled Liverpool’s advantage before the quarter of an hour mark, nodding home Andy Robertson’s pinpoint delivery.
And the clash was all-but ended as a contest shortly after the interval, as Jordan Henderson’s sumptuous whipped ball from the right was met by Sadio Mane, to make it 3-0 to the hosts.
Bernardo Silva did manage to pull one back for City 10 minutes from time, but, when all was said and done, it proved little more than a consolation.
Guardiola’s Anfield woes
As such, Liverpool have, in the eyes of many, this evening taken a monumental step towards clinching a long-overdue Premier League title.
And, as outlined above, the Reds’ latest victory has since given rise to a number of noteworthy statistics.
First off, the brilliance of Jurgen Klopp’s men over the early months of the season has seen them open up a gap only bettered by one side after 12 games in the history of the Premier League:
