Aymeric Laporte injury timetable
The glaring omission in Man City’s update was a timeframe regarding the French defender’s likely comeback.
Filling in the blanks, the Atheltic’s Sam Lee has posted his insight in Laporte’s injury timetable.
In a key observation, it’s noted that “Laporte didn’t damage his ACL”.
Had that happened, the defender’s campaign may have been over.
Sam Lee steered clear of naming any precise comeback date, however he reported that Laporte should “be back in the second part of the season, although meniscus can still be troublesome.”
Laporte didn’t damage his ACL, most importantly. It shouldn’t be an 8-9 month lay-off and the expectation is he will be back in the second part of the season, although meniscus can still be troublesome.

Who are Man City’s centre-backs?
Laporte’s injury is a significant blow to Pep Guardiola.
Arguably, centre-half is the one position where City are short on numbers.
Should City have bought a replacement for Vincent Kompany in the summer?
With Laporte out of the picture, the assumption is that Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones will start together.
However, Stones appears out of favour in Manchester, leaving Fernandinho as the other realistic alternative.
