Crystal Palace, Watford & Ismaila Sarr
Who will end up signing Rennes winger Ismaila Sarr?
On Wednesday, L’Equipe claimed that Ismaila Sarr has ‘agreed’ a deal to move to Watford.
L’Equipe said that Watford were willing to agree a five-year contract with the 21-year-old Senegalese international.
However, Watford had yet to reach terms with Rennes.
L’Equipe claimed Watford were willing to offer Rennes 30 million euros up-front plus a further 5 million euros in add-ons.
Rennes, however, are asking for one lump sum of 37 million euros.
On Thursday, L’Equipe suggest that Crystal Palace could hijack Watford’s move for Sarr.
However, the Eagles face the same financial problems which Watford were dealing with: finding agreement with Rennes over the transfer fee.
As confirmed by GFFN, Palace may actually have offered Rennes less than Watford:
The exact size of the Eagles’ offer has not filtered through but it is understood to be worth around €30m excluding bonuses, less than what is on offer from Watford.

Everton consider a Wilfried Zaha alternative
Of course, the trigger for Crystal Palace’s interest in Sarr has been Wilfried Zaha.
On Wednesday Zaha handed in a transfer request in an attempt to leave Selhurst Park.
Everton have been trying to sign the Ivory Coast international, however the Toffees have so far been unsuccessful.
While Everton are thought to be readying another attempt to sign Zaha on deadline day, Marco Silva is also considering his other options.
As reported by Football Insider, Everton will look to sign PSV Eindhoven winger Steven Bergwijn if a move for Wilfried Zaha fails.
