As per a report from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Frank Lampard, who is expected to be named as the new Chelsea boss imminently, is open to the idea of Alvaro Morata returning to the club for next season.
Atleti switch
On the back of a disappointing opening half to the 2018/19 season, Spanish striker Morata made a return to his home country in January, when he joined Atletico Madrid on an 18-month loan deal.
The 26-year-old subsequently went on to notch a respectable 6 goals and 1 assist across 15 La Liga outings.
As such, all signs have since pointed to Atleti attempting to make Morata’s move permanent.
A report from the Telegraph last night, though, suggested that Chelsea will not make it easy for Diego Simeone’s men to do so.

The Blues are said to be demanding that Los Rojiblancos stump up £50 million this summer, or risk Chelsea cutting their hitman’s stint at the Wanda Metropolitano short.
This claim is based around the fact that the English giants will be unable to sign any new players this summer, amid their UEFA-imposed transfer ban.
Lampard wants Morata?
And, as per the aforementioned update courtesy of Mundo Deportivo this afternoon, Morata would be welcomed back to Stamford Bridge with open arms by prospective new boss Frank Lampard.
On the back of weeks of speculation, Blues’ legend Lampard is expected to be named as Maurizio Sarri’s successor at Stamford Bridge imminently.
And the 40-year-old is seemingly already running the rule over his potential Chelsea squad, with Lampard open to the idea of counting on Morata for next season.
Crucially, however, the Spaniard himself is not keen on a return to London.
