De Ligt impresses for Ajax
Despite being just 19 years of age, Matthijs de Ligt is proving himself to be one of the top central defenders in Europe.
This past season would see de Ligt captain Ajax to their first Eredivisie title since 2014.
De Ligt also helped guide Ajax to the Champions League semi-finals, beating Juventus in the quarter-final.
As well as excelling at club level, de Ligt was a key member of the Netherlands side as they made it to the first ever Nations League final vs Portugal.
However, de Ligt and co would lose out to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal by one goal to nil.

Juventus bound
It was after the above mentioned final that Ronaldo apparently told de Ligt to come and join Juventus, to which de Ligt responded:
“I didn’t understand him at first. I was a little shocked, so I laughed. But I didn’t say anything.
“So soon after the game you are not at all concerned with it. You are disappointed that you have lost and that is the only thing you are thinking about.”As quoted by ESPN.
However, Ronaldo’s post-match chat with de Ligt may have had some effect on the Dutchman.
De Ligt has been pretty heavily linked with both PSG and Barcelona in recent weeks.
But it looks to be Serie A giants Juventus who have secured the wonderkid.
According to Sky in Italy, de Ligt has chosen to sign for Juve. The fee for de Ligt is allegedly £62m with personal terms yet to be agreed.
