Sane’s lack of game time

Leroy Sane joined Manchester City in August of 2016 from Bundesliga outfit, Schalke.

Since making the move to Manchester, Sane has played over 100 games for the club, in which he has scored 39 and assisted 45.

The German’s 2017/18 season was particularly impressive with Sane going on to win the Premier League Young Player of the Year award.

Sane has also had a decent 2018/19 campaign, scoring 16 and assisting 18 in 41 appearances across all competitions.

However, Sane was used largely as a substitute for Man City in recent weeks.

In City’s last five league outings Sane started just once and even that game saw him come off after 64 minutes.

Bayern looking to replace Ribery & Robben

Now, reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano is reporting in the Guardian that Bayern Munich are ready to bid £70m to land the Manchester City star.

Sane has just over two years remaining on his current deal with Pep Guardiola recently having this to say about the 23-year-old:

“Leroy we are one and a half years trying to sign his [new] contract. We want him.

“If you want to extend his contract, it’s because you want him. You’re not going to extend his contract because you don’t want him. It’s like Gundogan, for example – it’s the same case.”As quoted by the Manchester Evening News.

However, as per the report from the Guardian, Sane is said to be keen on a move back to Germany where he could be a replacement for Munich duo Frank Ribery and Arjen Robben who have now left the club.

Munich forward Robert Lewandowski has also been full of praise for Sane in recent weeks:

“He’s a super player with great qualities and great potential. I’ve already seen many times how good he is.

“That’s a player who can immediately take us higher, who improves the team.”As quoted by the Guardian.
