Everton’s only injury problem

Everton boss Marco Silva has provided an injury update on defender Yerry Mina after he suffered a problem during the last international break.

Mina joined Everton over the summer in a deal worth initially 30.25 million euros after several impressive performances at the World Cup in Russia.

Mina scored several important goals for Colombia, including a header against England.

That alerted Everton to his potential and the Toffees moved to sign the Barcelona man along with Lucas Digne and Andre Gomes.

Though, despite his big money signing Mina hasn’t exactly enjoyed the best season.

Mina has not played as much as he would have liked and has been shaky when involved too.

As a result, Michael Keane and Kurt Zouma have been preferred for most weeks.

Mina was then hit with an injury on international duty and it didn’t look too good.

Now, Marco Silva has provided an update on the Colombian’s injury.

Returning to training possibly next week

The Everton boss has revealed that while Mina will not be available for the clash with Manchester United, he could return to training next week.

“Possibly next week he will start full training with us,” Silva explained, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

That would be a big boost for the player and club, with Mina possibly getting a few games under his belt before the end of the campaign.

Silva also spoke about Andre Gomes after he was slapped with a three-game ban for stamping on Aleksandar Mitrov.

“Andre is an honest and fair football player. He enjoys what he is doing here,” Silva continued.

“In that moment he didn’t show that. It can be tough to play against a tough player like Mitrovic.

“But we have to keep our emotional balance at all times. I already spoke with him. It’s a moment for him to learn.”
