Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Sean Bones of the Man United Supporters’ Trust has this afternoon affirmed the organisations’s ‘100 per cent’ backing for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Everton 4-0 Man United

United travelled to Goodison Park to take on Everton yesterday afternoon, in their latest Premier League outing.

The clash came as a crucial one in the club’s quest to reclaim their spot in the English top-flight’s top-4, with United having sat 2 points adrift of Arsenal and Chelsea, and a further point off Tottenham, ahead of kick-off on Merseyside.

When the 90 minutes were said and done at Goodison, however, the hopes of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men of securing Champions League football for next season were dealt a hammer blow.

An embarrassing showing from the Red Devils eventually saw Everton emerge with a 4-0 victory.

Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Lucas Digne and Theo Walcott bagged the goals for the hosts, in an utterly-dominant performance.

Solskjaer targeted

As such, in the aftermath of their 6th defeat in 8 across all competitions, many were quick to point the finger at Manchester United’s players and staff alike.

The likes of Paul Pogba, David de Gea and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer all came in for heavy criticism.

In fact, some even began to call into question the decision of the board at Old Trafford to appoint Solskjaer on a permanent basis last month.

‘100 per cent behind the manager’

The United boss, though, has today been assured of his absolute backing on the part of the club’s fans.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports this afternoon, Sean Bones of the Red Devils’ Supporters Trust had the following to say when questioned on the stance of the United fanbase regarding Solskjaer’s position:

‘The supporters are 100 per cent behind the manager.’

‘It was a woeful performance. That happens, but when you are a Manchester United player you can’t saunter around casually. You’ve got to work harder than the opposition.’

‘That didn’t happen [at Goodison Park] and it didn’t happen in the two Wolves games [2-1 defeats in the FA Cup and Premier League]. You’ve got to want it more than the opposition.’

‘When you put the Manchester United shirt on, you’ve got to give everything.’

‘Ole understands that, and the supporters are 100 per cent behind the manager. He shouldn’t have to apologise to us as supporters.’
