Viewers of the clash between Manchester United and Barcelona have taken to social media in their droves this evening, to take aim at David De Gea.
Barca welcome United
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Red Devils are currently locked in action with La Liga champions Barcelona at the Camp Nou, in the second-leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie between the clubs.
The tie’s first-leg at Old Trafford last week saw visitors Barca emerge with a crucial away win, courtesy of an early Luke Shaw own-goal.
As such, the Blaugrana headed into proceedings this evening as clear favourites to advance.
Messi at the double
And it didn’t take long for Ernesto Valverde’s men to all-but secure their place in the Champions League’s final-8.
After a blistering start from visitors United, during which Marcus Rashford rattled the crossbar, Barca soon settled, before a mistake from Ashley Young with a quarter of an hour on the clock saw Lionel Messi take full advantage.
After cutting in from the right in trademark style, the Argentine superstar unleashed an unstoppable low drive beyond David De Gea into the bottom corner of the away goal.
And, incredibly, it was 2-0 just minutes later.
This time, though, De Gea not only had the chance to save Messi’s brace-clincher, but very-well should have.
Another low effort, this time with the Barca captain’s weaker right foot, somehow managed to squirm under the body of the United shot-stopper, in a real moment to forget for De Gea.
Lionel Messi has his second, but has David de Gea to thank for it…

If that De Gea mistake was a one-off, then it could be dismissed as just that. But it’s not even his first this month. May have been the world’s best, but he’s nowhere near that right now.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been banging on about 1999 for so long that David De Gea wanted to get involved.
Shame he went for Taibi in September rather than Schmeichel in April.

If you still think David De Gea is the best goalkeeper in the world, you need your head testing.
Made plenty of errors this season and another tonight. Awful World Cup as well.
Oblak is streets ahead.
