Further punishment by UEFA?
AC Milan have breached Financial Fair Play regulations for a second time and could face an even harsher punishment from UEFA as a result.
It’s not been a great few years for AC Milan.
Not only have the club struggled on the pitch, but the situation off it is even worse.
Milan are already facing punishment from UEFA for overspending in the three years leading up to 2017.
While the club are currently challenging that ruling in the Court of Arbitration for Sport, they could still face a ban from UEFA competition.
Now, they are in even more trouble after breaching financial fair play rules for a second time.

Second offence could leave to larger punishment
As reported by the Times, Milan have ‘breached financial rules in the three-year period leading up to 2018 as well.’
UEFA confirmed that to the Times, revealing their findings and explaining this is separate from AC Milan’s previous case.
Their statement read:
“The Uefa Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) investigatory chamber has today communicated its decision to refer the case of AC Milan (Italy) to the CFCB adjudicatory chamber as the club has failed to comply with the break-even requirement during the current monitoring period assessed in the 2018-19 season and covering the reporting periods ending in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
“This referral is not related to the decision that was made by the CFCB adjudicatory chamber in December 2018 concerning the previous monitoring period and was covering the reporting periods ending in 2015, 2016 and 2017.”
The big question now is whether Milan will face any further punishment and if so, what punishment it will be.
As explained by the Times, Milan’s squad will be limited to ‘a maximum of 21 players’ in UEFA competition over the next two years, rather than the usual 25.
