Chelsea’s bad week continues
Chelsea return to action on Thursday night in the Europa League.
The Blues head to Sweden to face Malmo in the round of 32.
Maurizio Sarri’s side will travel to Scandinavia under a black cloud.
That follows last weekend’s humiliating 6-0 Premier League defeat away at Man City.
Indeed, Chelsea’s last two away fixtures have resulted in a combined scoreline of 10-0.
Sarri has previously called out his Chelsea stars for their failure to be motivated.
Motivation problems appeared to be an issue again on Tuesday as Sarri’s senior side played a match against Chelsea’s youth.
Chelsea stars vs Blues youth
As confirmed in the Times, Chelsea’s senior side couldn’t even beat the club’s kids this week:
A number of Chelsea’s senior players suffered further embarrassment yesterday when they were held to a 3-3 draw by a development team in a practice match at the club’s training ground.
In 60-minute practice game played over four quarters Chelsea’s youngsters more than held their own against the senior squad.
Chelsea’s under-18s have won the last five FA Youth Cups in a row.
Which Chelsea players played?
That remains unclear. No official team sheets have been revealed about the in-house Chelsea match.
However, as confirmed by the Times, two players who definitely played against the Chelsea kids were Olivier Giroud and Willian.
It’s also worth noting that the broadsheet believes Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Andreas Christensen could all start for Chelsea against Malmo this week.
