Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has this evening discussed the role played by interim Red Devils’ boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in his rich recent vein of form.
Solskjaer’s immediate impact
United legend Solskjaer was handed the reigns at Old Trafford on a temporary basis two-and-a-half weeks ago, following Jose Mourinho’s dismissal.
And the Norwegian tactician has since gone on to enjoy a superb start to life at the helm in Manchester.
To this point, Solskjaer has picked up 5 wins from 5, over Cardiff City, Huddersfield, Bournemouth, Newcastle and Reading respectively.

In addition, the Red Devils have rediscovered much of the attacking intent that had so long been missing under Mourinho, with United having notched 16 goals across the 5 fixtures since Solskjaer’s appointment.
‘He helps me a lot’
One of many to have seen his individual form pick up under Solskjaer’s tutelage, meanwhile, has been United hitman Romelu Lukaku.
Belgian star Lukaku had endured one of the poorer stretches of his career in front of goal over the final months of Jose Mourinho’s reign, with the former Everton man having managed to find the net just twice between the middle of September and middle of December.
However, Lukaku has since gone on to notch 3 goals in his last 3 outings, following Solskjaer’s appointment last month.

And the 25-year-old has today provided an insight into the role played by his new boss in his recent upturn in form.
Speaking in an interview with MUTV, Lukaku explained:
‘In training you see he helps us a lot with finishing and how to strike the ball.’
‘He explains how to move away from the ball and the way he wants us to play really benefits me. It helps me to get in a position where I want to be and he understands what type of striker I am and he works to our strengths.’
‘He knows I want to play through the middle, facing the goal at all times. He knows I’m really dangerous at that. But, also helping the team off the ball and things like that. He helps me a lot and I try to pay off with goals.’
