Chelsea did have an important clash with Tottenham in the League Cup on Thursday but the Blues did not register Higuain in time to feature.
As a result, it is still unknown when the Argentine will make his Chelsea debut.
Chelsea’s next two games see them face Sheffield Wednesday this Sunday in the FA Cup and then Bournemouth next Wednesday in the Premier League.
While Maurizio Sarri may have wanted to save Higuain for the Premier League game on Wednesday, it is now likely he will start up front on Sunday.
This is because, after Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Spurs on Thursday, Olivier Giroud hinted that he was injured.
It is even more likely #HiguaÃn will make his #cfc debut against Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup on Sunday. #Giroud intimated that he suffered an injury to his right leg against #thfc after the game last night.

Chelsea vs Sheffield Wednesday
After already securing their place in one final this week, Chelsea will be keen to progress as far as possible in the FA Cup.
To reach the 4th round Chelsea beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 earlier this month.
Sheffield Wednesday, on the other hand, beat Luton 1-0 in a 3rd round replay.
Chelsea also head into Wednesday’s game having lost just one of their last five league games.
Sheffield Wednesday, however, are 16th in the Championship and have won just one of their last five league fixtures.
