Cardiff’s need for a striker

After 22 game weeks of the 2018/19 season, it is quite apparent Cardiff need a new striker.

The Bluebirds are not having the worst season and currently sit 17th in the table, one point above the relegation zone.

However, they are lacking in the goals department.

In 22 Premier League matches, Cardiff have found the back of the net just 19 times.

Only Newcastle and Huddersfield, 16 and 13, have scored less than the Welsh side.

It is also quite obvious Cardiff need to sign a striker when you look at their top scorer.

Callum Paterson is currently their top scorer with four goals from 20 games.

Paterson is naturally a central midfielder but has had to play up top for a large part of this season.

Paterson is also without a goal in five Premier League appearances.

Niasse to join Cardiff

Cardiff are seemingly aware of their need for a goalscorer as they have been targeting Nantes forward, Emiliano Sala.

Unfortunately, that deal looks to have fallen through.

It does, however, appear that Cardiff have already turned their attention to another forward.

The BBC reported that Cardiff are now eyeing a loan move for Everton’s Oumar Niasse.

Sky Sports News would then report that a loan deal for Niasse has been agreed.

Niasse has made just five Premier League appearances for Everton under Marco Silva, all of which have been as a sub.
